First Impressions of Kubuntu 7 Feisty FawnThu 26 April 2007
Kubuntu was easy to install but not as fast as I thought it would be. At least the interactive stage was over in a matter of minutes. Then it's just a matter of waiting for it to copy the files from the DVD. It took about 40 minutes total. It was certainly easier than installing Windows. One oddity was the network setup - it didn't ask for anything. On most networks I guess DHCP is going to be in use but on mine it's not, so the first thing I noticed after rebooting was that I wasn't connected. I tried a few programs but didn't have much time. So far my impression is it's great that it has every basic program a user would need but it is not yet as polished as Fedora, Redhat or the now unusable Suse.
